my comment for entry titled "Illusion"
the rm 97 million is only for angkasawan training; it is included in the original $300 million contract.
i found out the palm oil deal constitutes only 30% of the payment meaning taxpayer's money= $300 million- 90 million= 210 million (or even higher than that)
i don't deny exploring airspace knowledge is beneficial, but we still have problems and issues untackled; education, poverty, housing, military, business, economy, essentials etc. why spend the 97 million on space programme?
what's the results of the experiments? no story about them yet. if let say the experiments did excelled in space (with no particle, vacuum, zero gravity),can mass-production or vaccines be made on earth?
what's the long- term of space programme? helping other countries get experiments results? space walk to fix iss? use space as military tool? what other benefit other than diplomatics relationship? want to befriend russia, veto power in UN?rakyat need answers.
even in usa itself, nasa faced protests from americans and organisations; 'why bother to spend million or billion on space shuttle and programme when problems in us have not been solved', 'problems on earth not settled yet, want to explore space'
i agree with "We should look at a problem, then think of different ways to solve it. Not decide to do something, and then think of the benefits it may bring".
we already have LIMA; not enough ke to promote aerospace industry in malaysia? at least the exhibitors during LIMA pay some fees to our gov/organiser; but this one, we have to pay 97 million.
but, i think tirani tirani is right about "other ppl respect". if we watch documentary regarding klcc construction, che det admitted one of the reasons is to promote "malaysia" name; ooo, that country with the tallest skyscraper (at that time).before this we might have to explain to people 'malaysia is a country next to singapore' which indirectly promotes s'pore too.
"how they know our leaders? and how they know our country". i can say che det is a very outspoken person even to west countries like us, uk (buy british last) and israel (proxy), australia (deputy sheriff) besides our country developments.
ps= "mass-production" should be "mass-production of products (crystal etc)"
"$300 million- 90 million= 210 million " should be "$300 million- $90 million= $210 million "

Subject: problem in islamic country
assalamualaikum,
i read an article in the timesonline which the link is = http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article3295487.ece
another article is http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7224109.stm
can you please do something about this? at least, can your society/association make a formal statement about this problem. if you read the comments in response to the article, there are still people who cannot distinguish between customs/cultures and religion.
this forced marriage is a mere culture and has nothing to do with islam. i feel very very angry towards my muslim brothers in pakistan(in this context). if they want to do this to their sons (there are men who are also forced to marry their parents' bride choice) or daughters, please don't become father or mother and have children.
do we still have people like this nowadays living around with 'honour killing or honour marriage'.it makes islam looks bad anyway.
can you please contact your counterpart in pakistan telling them to take serious action against this crime towards freedom and human being. please tell them to teach fathers in pakistan to forget about this 'honour' stuffs.
how can Islamic Sharia Council in Britain approves this girl marriage when "To make matters worse, her mother-in-law decided to exploit her attractive looks by forcing her into prostitution. The family invited men to the family home to rape her..."
why can't the Islamic Sharia Council in Britain use common sense in making the decision?
please don't tell me 'this is what uk mainstream media are trying to brainwash people to hate islam'. the reality is, this is what really happen in this world especially in pakistan. please don't make an excuse for this case.
can we please think of something to stop or curb this phenomena. what can we do?
p/s: i have also emailed OIC secretary general, information department, web master, political department, islamophobia observatory here but still have not received responses from them.
as far as i can remember, i change the statement "please tell them to teach fathers in pakistan to forget about this 'honour' stuffs" when i email the OIC with "can you please advice your friends in pakistan to have education reform by inserting family education in the syllabus taught"
islamonline opinion:
.....hadith of the Prophet : “The virgin is not to be married until her consent has been sought.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah! What is her consent?” He replied: “Her silence means consent.” And in another wording: "And regarding the virgin, her father seeks her consent and her consent is her silence."
Therefore it is obligatory upon the father to seek the consent of her daughter before marrying her off. This rule also applies to everyone who happens to be a girl’s guardian, because one of the conditions of the marriage in Islam is the consent of both parties. So if the marriage is arranged without meeting this condition and the lady feels unhappy with the issue, such marriage is not valid.
hadith narrated by Ibn `Abbas that: "A girl came to Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said that her father had forced her to marry someone. Thereupon, Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the choice of either accepting the marriage or nullifying it.” (Reported by Ibn Hanbal) In another version, the girl said: “Actually, I accept this marriage but I wanted to let women know that parents have no right (to force a husband on them)." (Reported by Ibn Majah)"

Subject: suggestion for iaw
salam.
People might be asking regarding islamic laws taking place in certain islamic countries such us iran and saudi arabia during the iaw.
Can we please emphasize the separation between islamic laws and takzir (or ruler's laws) to the society on IAW.
From my observation, some of the cases happened in these countries are contributed by misunderstanding by the ruler or authorities in those countries.
In those countries, they try to mix around around between Islamic law and human laws. Is islam, it is only when 4 witnesses see the adultery action committed by a couple then the Islamic punishment take place. In those countries, they accept let say written, visual and verbal evidences, cctv footages , scientific proofs (DNA) and else. As far as I am aware, when reading the cases in news, I never ever read the courts managed to produce 4 witnesses in each case BUT they still order the public canning or stone to death.
I see this as a big mistake in those countries judicial systems.
If there is only one witness, then use takzir /sivil / takzir law. If two witnesses, use takzir law. If three witnesses, use takzir law BUT when it comes to four witnesses then only can use Islamic law of canning or stone to death.
In this particular case, in youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jqQVqsOw4U , the Iran law (human law) says that after three times being caught doing ‘khalwat’ (or a man and a woman in discrete place far from public sight), he or she can be hanged for fourth conviction or khalwat.
As far as I know, there is no statement like ‘ the fourth times’ punishment is hang to death’ in islam law. This is a human law/ takzir law.
I believe action is needed to clarify and purify islam name and image in society eyes. That is the least we can do
p/s: remainder to myself:: muslim (s), please be proactive

“komen aku - a picture paints a thousand word. if you wanna claim innocent, at least act innocent, comes to court in clean hands. photos mcm ni, kalau dalam legal term kita cakap incriminating evidence, pasal public boleh infer pasal character tertuduh and form their own judgement. she might not be guilty and memang kena tipu, tapi to me at least, she’s not as innocent as what people try to say she is…”
i support freedom of speech as long as the information is correct not only speculations.
if we read read news, we heard that there is suspicious matters that can support her innocent(in this context, she did not smuggle the drug. if we want to say to say she is guilty for not concealing her aurat, then it is other issue altogether)
the iranian man is not her bf as far as i am aware.he is her friend. on the day of departure, she wanted her malaysian bf to meet her at the airport but the iranian guy persuade her not to do so.she also claimed she has no idea what is inside the bag that she even volunteer to scan or search her bag when she senses the immigrations officers acting weirdly; in common sense, if she knows the content of the bag(drug), will she volunteer happily? the bag was only given to her few hours before departure. let be in her shoes; will we open a bag and search the inside to know the content in front of the guy(this is her mistake though for not performing the search)
she claim innocent in term of not smuggling the drug not her whole identity or acts. can bad pictures in the internet be taken into account of judgement for drug- trafficking? what is the relationship between pictures and drug-trafficking?
in london, 5 students who are arrested for downloading terrorism contents from the internet released because the judge said the act of downloading and keeping the materials do not justify the claim the students committing terrorism act.in law, there is term, ‘prove beyond reasonable doubt’
she just happened to be a muslim and wearing those naughty clothes( but, in fact those clothes are haram to be wore by muslim women in public). if she is a non muslim, then the clothes are normal to them and the society.
she even has sms proves. please, in court, the decisions are based on proves be it scientific proves, written or verbal materials, witness or etc. cannot simply judge by looking at the person characters.
in islam, a man caught for stealing but because he is very poor to buy foods not because of greed will be only given civil or takzir punishment not hand and leg amputation. the situation must be seen from the big picture.
peace to all, cheers
truly disappointing ...as if i am reading bbc, the independent, the times, the guardian, non muslim blogs
"What about events that happened more than 2,000 years ago in the age before there were any proper records? No doubt, today, records exist in the form of 'holy books'. But when were these books written and who wrote them? Did the Prophets themselves record history in their own handwriting or was history recorded centuries after their deaths by 'hidden' hands? Were these books written as a true reflection of events or were they tailored to justify and strengthen certain beliefs and myths? In other words, was the cart placed after or before the horse?
After pondering over the 'evidence', or lack of it as the case may be, I form an opinion that Judaism, Christianity, Islam and all their numerous sects and sub-sects never came from God but are mere inventions of mankind. This very belief of rejecting 'organised' religion causes me to 'leave' religion. How would Muslims deal with this?
I never renounce Islam. I never ask to leave Islam to become a Christian, or whatever. In fact, I now don't believe in any religion. I officially still remain a Muslim though. But because of my very belief that religions do not exist but were mere creations and distortions of mankind, this causes me to have left not only Islam but religion itself. How would Muslims deal with this?"
this is an act of apostasy; have no belief in quran, Allah
in fact, if he is still a muslim, we must do something to tackle the problem, teach him more about islam, teach his family members as well perhaps for he has quite great influence in the direction of his family and many more. this is when muazzin, imams, jabatan agama islam, PAS, JIM, UMNO,PKR, islam scholars and clerics and endless list must take action.he is an influential figure in malaysia society and publicly publish his thoughts in malaysiatoday.
please please again, please comment for this article.
attacks on islam are not only from west (particularly) but the muslims themselves....remember the dalil to the nearest meaning 'umat islam ramai ketika itu tetapi seperti buih2 di lautan'

guys..please go to islamonline for more information about islam either you are a muslim or not. if you a muslim, and happen to be confused about islam, seek knowledge from the scholars in the islamonline.if you are a non muslim, and have qustions about islam, also go to islamonline.
google "Sentencing adulterers to death, islamonline safiya" . ctrl + F, type "safiya" :
First of all, I would like to bring to your attention that the authority for Muslims in Islam is not the practice of Muslims and Muslim States. Imam Ali (Allah be pleased with him) once said: ‘We know people by al-haq (the truth) and we do not know al-haq by people.’ This means that we should evaluate people by how strong their adherence and commitment to the true path and that we should not evaluate any path by those who are affiliated with or practice it. "
google "Is the Qur'an a Guidance for Mankind? Isabelle ". then ctrl + F, type "isabelle" :
1. But the Qur'an is just ONE BOOK. And it is not the work of any human author. It is literally the Word of God revealed by God to His prophet. And the whole of the Qur'an has been preserved intact, without any omission or addition."
2. Qur'an Chapter 39: verse 41:
"Verily We have revealed the Book to thee (the Prophet) in Truth, for (instructing) mankind. He, then, that receives guidance benefits his own soul: but he that strays injures his own soul. Nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs."
Qur'an Chapter 6:verse 155:
"And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy"
google "What Makes Someone a Muslim ? bruce germany". ctrl +F, type 'bruce' :
I will refer to a very famous hadith (Prophetic narration) that every Muslim knows very well (hadith Jibreel): A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) in his mosque and in front of a number of the companions, and asked him: What is belief? The Prophet answered: To believe in God, His Prophets, His Books, His angles, and destiny, its good and its evil. The man asked: What is Islam? The Prophet answered: To say that you bear witness that there is no god but God (Allah) and Muhammad is His messenger, to maintain prayers, to give charity, to fast the month of Ramadan, and to visit the House (in Mecca) in pilgrimage.
THIS is what makes someone a Muslim. In terms of faith: the above are the "six pillars of faith" as scholars called them. And in terms of practice: the above are the "five pillars of Islam."
So, Bruce, if you believe in ONE God (that is He is not and has never been "embodied" in a human or an object, has never had a "son" in any real sense not allegorically, and that He created this universe), and you believe in ALL of God’s prophets, including Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad, and in the message that holy books received by these Messengers call for, and that God created what He called angels and what He called destiny (we know this because God mentioned that in His books), then .. you are Muslim!
google "What Makes Someone a Muslim ? samson semere". ctrl + F, type 'samson' :
Yes. God exists! What is the evidence? The evidence is everything around us. Who made them and organized them in that orderly, systematic, and beautiful way? I know that this "evidence of creation" as they say in philosophy, has many "logical" counter-arguments. But there are "logical" counter-arguments to these logical counter-arguments.
So, without getting ourselves in a philosophical debate, I will take the way that the Quran tried to prove the existence of God, which is closer to our human nature and further from all of our superficial and very limited "logical analysis."
For example,God in the Qur'an says what means:
"Do they not look at the sky above them - how God have built it and made it beautiful and free of all faults? And the earth - God have spread it wide, and set upon it mountains firm, and caused it to bring forth plants of all beauteous kinds, thus offering an insight and a reminder unto every human being who willingly turns unto God. And We send down from the skies water rich in blessings, and cause thereby gardens to grow, and fields of grain, and tall palm-trees with their thickly-clustered dates, as sustenance to people .. " ( Qaf 50:6-11 )
google "What Makes Someone a Muslim ? islamonline,Muhammad " .ctrl + F, type "Muhammad":
This issue is related to the difference I am trying to stress between matters of faith (which make somebody Muslim or kafir), and matters of practicing Islam (which make somebody a good Muslim or a misguided sinner).
google "Ask About the Qur'an & Muhammad, islamonline Matthew". ctrl + F, type "Matthew" :
The whole of the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), while he was alive. He was the Last Prophet of God, and after him, there was no other as the title makes it clear. The verses of the Last Testament were not revealed at one time; they were revealed piecemeal at different times. But the whole of the Qur’an was revealed fully to the Last Prophet before he died. It was he who dictated it to his scribes, and they wrote it down. After writing, the written text was read out to the Prophet who verified it and found to be perfectly accurate. And his followers preserved the written down Qur’an intact, without the slightest change.
Moreover, the whole of the Qur’an from cover to cover as it were, was learned by heart by thousands of Muslims from the time of the Prophet to the present.
we cannot get out from islam just because islam is not implemented very well or the implementers are not practicing what islam has taught us or simply because other muslim are not doing islam syariat.
one of rukun islam is 'percaya to quran'. if we fail to believe even one of these rukun islam, we are considered not islam anymore. my reminder (reminder is telling again what is true but advice is sth that can be accepted or rejected; consultation) to raja petra is," please istighfar to seek Allah forgiveness"
i am more concern on apostasy or understanding in islam than politics
****************************
to Panca Indera, what is above all; tauhid or muamalat or islam laws or fiqah or else. tauhid comes first above all.
that is what i meant by "i am more concern on apostasy or understanding in islam than politics"
i never say that islam should be separated from politics.never!!!
after problems regarding misunderstanding in islam are solve, then concentrate on other issues.
if we do not believe in God but we still pray, fast, go to perform hajj, are you telling me that is ok?
i must first instill tauhid in my heart, so that when i do muamalat or islam syariat , i am not in a condition of was-was in performing what Allah have asked me to do
to panca indera, we have same opinion indeed.it is just a matter of different degree of language used.
excerpts from various article in the islamonline are to answer all the questions or misunderstanding of islam in raja petra mind and heart. i hope he will read my comment and Allah give him hidayah again.
if someone murtad, it is s/he fault and also fellow muslims' fault too. that person fail to understand islam fully (maybe as a result of being ignorance) and muslims around that person also fail to teach that person about islam.
please comment on the timesonline
i have already written down my comment there to clearify the matters to all muslim and most importantly the non muslim. the west media are feeding the people with negative and false information. from the words used, i can say that the editor would like to emphasize the so- called biasness or degradation of muslim women rights in islam.
my comment:
where is proves that "he marries a virgin he can spend seven consecutive nights with her after the wedding. A non-virgin gets three consecutive nights". i never heard of this stuff. please give reference for this statement.
for statement "A man must provide his wife with a house away from her in-laws and his other wives, otherwise she can leave him", where is prove for this statement? it not a 'must'.it is optional; if the man can provide own house, then it is much better.
please provide prove for this statement "Simply by smiling at his wife a man can revoke his divorce three months after he has announced it". from what i know, it is not a 'smile' but 'intercourse'
for "A finally divorced couple can't remarry each other until the woman has first married someone else, had sex with him and divorced him", better wording should be "after three times talaq or divorces"
my general advice: please give more proves for each statement. responsibility of providing correct information comes with freedom of speech

hi guys,
please go to islamonline if you have any questions!!!
refer to persons who are really expert in their field; if you want to know about islam, ask the muslim scholars+ clerics not a christian who study about theology as they might be bias in their writing.
"The first wife may be sterile while the husband wants to have children without divorcing her. Maybe he loves or maybe she doesn't have anywhere else to go if she is divorced. Also another reason is that a husband might not be very happy with a wife who does not respect or treat him decently, or denies him his marital rights - this behavior is more frequent than you imagine - while he cannot divorce her because of the children. "
"If every adult American man married only one woman, there would still be more than 25 million women in the United States who would not be able to get husbands, at least considering that—according to latest statistics—10 percent of the American population is gay! That’s close to 30 million people!"
"It is very probable that a man marrying a second wife could be solving a problem, in that his first wife is incapable of bearing children or has extended menstruation cycles which result in his sexual needs being unsatisfied. The first wife could be ill and thus, instead of divorcing her and leaving her alone, could marry a second wife and remain next to his first wife, and so on. This allowance also solves the problem of a widow who needs a husband to care for her but does not wish for an unmarried young man, similar to a divorced woman with children. Indeed this allowance may solve a social problem which arises from the high proportion of good women who want to marry in comparison to able men. This is a common problem which increases particularly in the aftermath of wars and the like"

my comment:
azam tamimi is very great at debate. He managed to give good analogy and examples in his speech. yes, people have to see the issue from big picture; palestin-israel matter are based on many factors such as religion(baitulmaqdis), independent(Palestine is still not an independent country right now) and etc. this is just my opinion; it is unfortunate for palestin-israel, Kashmir, Kosovo, Darfur tragedies to happen right now in 21st century or so-called modern world. If the issues arise in the same as when Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and other part of the world fight for their respective countries’ independent, then people might have different point of views in the matter; at that time fighting against the occupiers or foreign invaders is ‘acceptable’ or ‘justifiable’ and no harsh language or terms used to address them (at least, years ago they use words such as rebel). Today, anything regarding Islam people or countries are always associated with terrorism, extremism and else.

my comment for "Jangan Jadi Seperti Pisau"
to shadowx_19,
i fail to see anywhere in this thread what you mean by "tapi bersuara tu biar kene pada tempat dan tidak terlalu melampau.itu hanya nasihat dari sy.. bukan nak membangkang anda tapi just nak ingatkan anda supaya jgn terover sgt.." .she didn't even write down any study case(s) here. yes, i know it's just a plain advice anyway.i think it's ok to "terlalu melampau" if "kene pada tempat" as long as the information is correct because that is what being practiced in the judicial system which is "to proof beyond a reasonable doubt"
ps.typo again.huhu. "to proof" must be "to prove"
comment for blog entry titled Arab kecek kelate
i'm not sure but i can bet that abu rokok might be or live ni malaysia now.
i also have emailed one of the blogger regarding her racism entry and when i gave example or situation in uk, she also replied something like 'malaysia tak sama ngan uk'. what comes to my mind at that time is that we,as a malay, in malaysia, are in comfort zone because we are the majority and many policies that in favour of us.
if we want to talk about matter relating to other races, we must give our opinions as if we are in their shoes.then, we will see the situation from different angle.
we have a muslim government whip, two seniors muslim MP who managed to secure Gillian Gibbons' release.
opps, are we talking about majority- minority in terms of religion etc besides races too?
maybe, i am out of context here;my apology.
for situation in malaysia, perhaps we can study other countries' policies which have multi races same as what we have in malaysia.
is there any?
what i know is, mostly, the issue raised is between black and white like in south africa, europe, australia. i think malaysia is quite unique (thus the difficulty in discussing the matter).
from what i know, as long as let say a pakistani-born guy is a british, he has same rights as his english british; they call it equality rights regardless of someone race, religion, orientation, age etc.
but, i do believe they still might have special treatments on english people.this is only speculation though not a fact. maybe, we can do research on that.
if let say, they do not discriminate other races' rights, how can they survive,i mean, with no special treatment.
i think their advantage and strength are motivation, sedar diri, and probably as what we learnt in history from 4; 'responsibility of white people' in which they think they are the most superior and clever thus the need to change or teach other people.
i cannot say malays do not have these criteria but how many are there? (in proportion to all malays in malaysia). when our malays have these characters, then, that is the time to give up the special treatment. but maybe we can do it simultaneously so that we can feel intensely the urge to improve ourselves
i welcome any critisms towards my comment
p/s: there are some errors i made in the original comment.
'ni' should be 'in'. 'from' should be 'form'.
'we have a muslim government whip, two senior muslims MP who managed to secure Gillian Gibbons' release' should be 'we have a muslim government whip, two senior muslim MPs who managed to secure Gillian Gibbons' release and all of them have pakistan root.(thus asian too)'

second comment:
i would like to give comment on scholarship;one of malay privileges.
as malaysia consists of malay, chinese, indian and bumiputra (indigenous peoples), i think the best way of distributing the scholarship is by using percentage approach.
60% of malaysia population are malays, 26% are chinese, 8% are indians and the rest/ bumiputra/ indigenous make up 6%.
let say, in one year, total number of spm candidates is 100 000. of these, 60 000 are malays, 26 000 are chinese, 8000 are indians and bumi are 6000.
let say in that year, only 1000 scholarships are awarded. using percentage, 600 scholarships are given to malays, 260 to chinese, 80 to indians and 60 to bumi.
i think the percentage scheme is quite fair. if the decision is based on mere meritocracy basis, chinese will dominate the statistics.
2004 malaysia cabinet members is also (approx) based on the percentage basis. by calculation, malay ministers= 18, chinese=8, indian= 2 and bumi=2. in reality, malay minister=22, chinese=6, indian=1 and bumi=2.
we assimilate races percentages and meritocracy. malaysia economy is also an integration of capitalism and socialism(price-controlled goods).
in reality, certain policies cannot and will not please each one of malaysia citizens' needs/hopes; the government will have to choose solutions that based on compromise of many things.
regarding 'pelajar non-Malay tidak dibenarkan masuk ke kelas pertama sekalipun dia layak', i do think that is some schools policy only; not national level policy. about 'MRSM yang 100% adalah pelajar Melayu', chinese and indian do have their own school too (SJK,SMJK).few years ago,10% of MRSM students admission is opened to non-malays.
in term of discount on real estate for malays and bumi, (just my view)i think it is not quite discriminatory action; malay as the owner of the original lands compromises with other races; 'kami bagi tanah kami, bagilah kami harga murah skit'.
i have other example, but maybe not quite accurate; you want to sell a land to either your sibling and strange people.normally, you don't mind if you sell the land to your sibling although he pay you less than the stranger. the difference in price= consent. i know this example is not quite good but i hope you see the point;it's hard to explain sth like this.
but, honestly, i believe we can do more on this majority- minority issue

Have Your Say: The long, cruel road to the slaughterhouse
some of my comments in the independent recently. if in firefox, press ctrl + F, type 'peter', highlight all. i use devil's advocate here
comment no1:
there is phrase " Those sheep that do arrive are fattened before being killed in accordance with Halal butchery laws" in the article or news which I can confidently say that this is a wrong or false information.
there is nothing in halal butchery law which states that "animal should be fattened before being killed". please do not make 'general' statement when it comes to certain countries or races or religions or anything.
i am sure the practice of fattening the animals before killing is nothing to do with,in this context, halal butchery law. it is common practice in industry to get most possible outcome from their resources.
in this case, a butcher wants to get let say maximum kilograms for each animal. the butcher is happy if he can get let say 20kg per animal rather than only 15kg per animal.
this practice has nothing to do with islam.
if the animal, let say, being transported to india or germany (which the national religion is buddha and christian respectively), we cannot simply write , in this context, " Those sheep that do arrive are fattened before being killed in accordance with (let say) buddha or christian butchery laws"
but if there are definite proves to say 'in accordance with Halal/ buddha/ christian/jew butchery laws, then we can write them down but if there are not, please do not speculation or own opinion just for the sake of writing up articles.
there is also a statement "as they were slaughtered in front of each other, a practice not considered halal by the experts I consulted". i would say this is a problem with the so-called 'experts' but not your editor or reporter that is to say, i just want to clarify something here.
there is no wordings in halal butchery laws which says like 'it is not halal be it the meat itself (thus halal meat) or the slaughtering process if the animals are killed in front of each other' .
but it is heavily recommended for the animal not to be slaughtered in front of each other; no question arise about the meat or the process is halal or not.it is the same as the knives used; if the knife is not sharp enough but still being used, then the meat is still halal but the use of highly sharped knife is heavily recommended.
if there are proves to say that i am wrong in my writing, then i will bear the responsibility/ burden and willing to make an apology and corrections.
there is no issue arise whether i am emotional or over-reacted towards the situation or article but i believe in 'freedom of speech provided that the information is correct'
p/s: in fact, this is my email to the independent news desk thus "but not your editor or reporter"

is this matter something to do with islam alone like what Dr.Balakrishna Murthy Ramaraju said? how about the spain, italy, canadian, hawaii, europe, britain, beirut and brazil which christian and judaism are the national religions of these respective countries?
as a Dr title holder (i am not sure he is a medical or academic), how can Dr.Balakrishna Murthy Ramaraju as an highly educated person overlooked or missed statements above in reading?
please people, see this tragic issue as a whole. this is an issue regarding people treatment towards animals. nothing to do with religions.
even in middle east, not all of the people living there are muslim. there are some who are atheis, christians, judaisms, buddhist and etc. " (i admitted i made some grammer mistake in the original post; 'medical' should be 'doctor', 'an highly' to 'a highly')

there is a scientific research done by Professor Wilhelm Schulze and his colleague Dr. Hazim at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover University in Germany with article titled "Attempts to Objectify Pain and Consciousness in Conventional (captive bolt pistol stunning) and Ritual (halal, knife) Methods of Slaughtering Sheep and Calves" . PLEASE go to http://www.islamonline.net/english/Science/2003/02/article01.shtml
some excerpts from the article:
The results were as follows:
I – Islamic Method
1. The first three seconds from the time of Islamic slaughter as recorded on the EEG did not show any change from the graph before slaughter, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any pain during or immediately after the incision.
2. For the following 3 seconds, the EEG recorded a condition of deep sleep - unconsciousness. This is due to the large quantity of blood gushing out from the body.
3. After the above-mentioned 6 seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain at all.
4. As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (a reflex action of the spinal cord) driving a maximum amount of blood from the body thus resulting in hygienic meat for the consumer.
II - Western method by C.B.P. Stunning
1. The animals were apparently unconscious soon after stunning.
2. EEG showed severe pain immediately after stunning.
3. The hearts of animals stunned by C.B.P. stopped beating earlier as compared to those of the animals slaughtered according to the Islamic method resulting in the retention of more blood in the meat. This in turn is unhygienic for the consumer.
Western-Style Slaughtering and Mad Cow’s Disease
Not only is this method of stunning animals before the slaughter severely painful as shown by the previous experiment, but there is also a rising concern that this method may be a factor in the spread of mad cow’s disease from cattle to humans as it was discovered in recent research carried out at Texas A&M University and by Canada’s Food Inspection Agency, that a method called pneumatic stunning (which is the firing of a metal bolt into the cow's brain followed by a pulverizing burst of 150 pounds of air pressure) delivered a force so explosive that it scattered brain tissue throughout the animal. This news is disturbing since the brain tissue and spinal cord are the most infectious parts of an animal with mad cow disease, which causes fatal Swiss cheese like holes in the brain of the infected animal. It is more disturbing to find out that around 30 to 40 percent of American cattle are stunned by pneumatic guns.

with regards to pork or ham, PLEASE go to http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1193049589682&pagename=Zone-English-HealthScience%2FHSELayout
some excerpts from the article:
"Pigs are highly adaptable and will generally consume anything available, ranging from plants, leaves, grasses, worms, snails, and eggs to rotting carcasses, excrement, garbage, disease-ridden rodents, and other animals"
"Pigs have played a role in the waste-management systems of many countries. In the US, for example, pigs were once allowed to roam the streets in order to eat garbage of all types, and the early 1900s saw numerous "piggeries" established to help manage the country's mounting garbage problem."
"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cysticercosis - a dangerous and potentially fatal disease caused by the pork tapeworm - is "found most often in rural, developing countries with poor hygiene, where pigs are allowed to roam freely and eat human feces.""
"according to the FAO, cysticercosis, which occurs in 15 to 60 percent of pigs, "is prevalent in both rural and urban areas and is closely related to the economic standard, aspects of hygiene, and the way animals and people share the same living space. Major problems with this disease occur in Latin America and non-Islamic parts of Africa and Asia, especially India" (FAO Corporate Document Repository)."
"The California Department of Food and Agriculture further notes that "many foreign animal diseases, including classical swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease, may be spread by feeding raw garbage derived from meat products to swine." (Swine Garbage Feeding)"
""The virulence of the disease in pigs is much more than [that of] other animals," Dr. Darwish tells IslamOnline.net, explaining the difference between two strains of Taenia (tapeworm) present in both cows and pigs."
please remember, some big organizations in health-related matter and intellectual people have conducted researches about this pork or swine

there is problem with the link above with reference to the pork or ham as the link is quite long to be showed in the space.

i just realized i made a big mistake before.my apology.
beirut is a capital city for lebanon not israel.
so, please ignore the term 'judaism' in my previous post.
comment no7:
i made mistake again.
in my previous post, "if the knife is not sharp enough but still being used, then the meat is still halal but the use of highly sharped knife is heavily recommended"
the rephrase statement must be 'slaughtering must use sharp knife but more sharper knife available is highly recommended'
comment no8:
***in my opinion, the animals must be slaughtered before being posted to everywhere in the world. it is also economic wise as we can put let say a lot of kilograms of meat into a lorry rather than putting only a few number of animals inside it. the people concerned can also cut cost as they do not have to provide foods and drinks for the animals during the transportation***

WHICH ONE IS BETTER? THE LESS PAIN FELT BY THE ANIMALS DURING THEIR SLAUGHTERING AND NOT-SO-GOOD-LOOKING SLAUGHTERING SCENE or GREAT PAIN FELT BY THE ANIMALS DURING SLAUGHTERING AND SO-CALLED GOOD-LOOKING SLAUGHTERING SCENE?
WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
WE AS A HUMAN, WE SEE, IN OUR EYES, THAT THE STUNNING METHOD IS THE BEST, BECAUSE WE DO NOT SEE BLOOD SMEARING AROUND. BUT, IN REALITY, THE ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING.
MY STATEMENTS ARE BACKED UP BY SEVERAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH DONE BY BIG ORGANIZATIONS, PROFESSOR, Dr. and etc.I DO NOT TELL LIE
BUT, WITH ISLAMIC SLAUGHTERING METHOD, THE ANIMALS SUFFERED LESS PAIN.
SO, IF WE WANT TO SAY WHAT IS BETTER FOR ANIMALS, THEN WE MUST BE IN THEIR SHOES; IN THE ANIMALS POSITION. AS A ANIMAL, THE ANIMAL MUST HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO FELL LESS PAIN. I DO NOT THINK THE ANIMALS WANT 'GREAT PAIN AND AT THE SAME TIME GIVE GOOD IMPRESSION( or good slaughtering scene) TO HUMAN BEING'
PLEASE PEOPLE. THINK ABOUT THIS.

politics and religion (islam, to be specific)
please read the article first as i am trying to comment on some things only.
"...So, those who sell the tickets and those who check you in and those who handle your baggage and those who usher you to the plane and those who sit in the office to count the money and those who sit in the boardroom to conduct meetings, and many more, are 'partners-in-crime' and would also have to leave the organisation..."
i don't know where he learn all these.
in islam, it is the person who buy, sell, producer, grow and pick grapes intended for liquor, serve, carry and display liquor etc ( i will check the quran, hadith and my friends for complete chain of this liquor-banning and update it later) BUT nothing to do( in this context) with people selling tickets, handling baggages, who usher you to the plane or who check you in etc.
if he can show me verses from quran, hadith or fatwa about these "remotely linked people", then only can i agree with him. the person who issue ticket has nothing to do with carrying or buying the liquor(if he can prove me these ticket issuer, accountant etc do actually has anything to do with liquor directly, then i am happy to withdraw my statement).
all his claims about the "robbery" are true as far as i am concerned because the person is an accomplice anyway. BUT he cannot compare the analogy with liquor-banning. please, don't mix up dalil2 which are always right with something that is derived from logical thinking which might be wrong.
"...These are the defenders of Islam. These are the officers of Islam Hadhari, the new Islam, the invention of Abdullah Badawi..." something problematic with political person or thinking is that they will in anyway make an (extra) effort to relate most issues to politics although it is INCOMPETENCE.
" I am not the first and I will not be the last to become the victim in this way to bring a leader down whether at state or national level" says chua soi lek in a recent press conference. hello, this is just a mere speculation by him. the person who did the recording has yet to be arrested and identified as either a politician or not. if we remember the issue of 'ketuk ketampi' women in police station last year, please note that she is not a politician but yet the recording got leaked to the public.
please look at this problem from point of view as a MUSLIM not a politician (for a second). why we want to mention the word 'islam hadhari' here. if we use this word here, it is as if want to tell people that 'these RELA officer's wrongdoing is the responsibility or as a result of government failure. the above is from point of view as a politician. with this thinking approach, we (let say, rakyat or the opposition suppoters) will just wash off our hand and point our fingers to the government saying 'apa punya islam hadhari RELA officer '.
from point of view as a muslim, we will feel somehow like 'what's wrong with muslim (officer) nowadays. they just follow their bad desire. have they forgotten what islam teaches them and so on'. when we think this way, we will TOGETHER think and try to tackle this problem in the name of ISLAM. if we think this problem is government matter only, we may not take any action (if we are the opposition supporter) i HOPE that we can manage to put ISLAM first in all our actions or opinions. ISLAM is more important that politics. peace to all :)
my 2 cents
i was browsing TIMESONLINE yesterday trying to trace back my previous comments on Gillian Gibbons' articles when i realized that i was burst into tears so suddenly albeit me being hard to cry without concrete reasons. ...Ok where is the nearest Mosque...subhanallah.
it is quite a spontaneous act.
my eyes were locked on top two comments in: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/africa/article2963740.ece
"To all the people that have said that they can now see the true Islam. Why is that? What because a misguided person has caused the arrest of this women so the whole of Islam must be wrong. So is Christianity a dirty religion becuse some of their Priests are peodophiles?? You can not judge a whole religion on a handful of people. if you want to know Islam stop looking at the Muslims and read the Quran for yourself. Stop judging Islam on what you hear and see in the media as this is exactly the game they are playing and you are the bait on there rod!!! I am not a Muslim but i am sick of people judging them on what the media decide to show. Funny how they never show the real side of islam isn't it. Why is that? Maybe because they know that its true and that scares them. Seeing another attack on the Muslims has made me realise how Islam must be the truth as why else would you haters want to try to bring it down so badly. Ok where is the nearest Mosque i am ready to get on the true path!!!
Michelle, London,
"yet again we see the true face of islam..." i've just heard that so many times its started to seem actually true... its just sad that i can not defend what the muslim mass does in the name of islam anymore. Its sad to admit that the muslim mass is deluded and without direction ; proper direction. Islam presents a way of life... and the texts we praise.. the Quran and the hadith are not for the selected few to interpret as is happening now .. every muslim individual should take the time to understand it for his or herself. only then will we hope to someday see a group of muslims protest a reasonable cause. if any of my muslim brother or sister reads this, i urge them to wake up, and if you feel that the seemingly dark fate of ms. gillian gibbons is unjust, voice your opinion, so that people should see that there are actually atleast two sides to every story..
Basim Qureshi, Lahore, Pakistan "
i love reading comments in blogs, news etc as is show to me what i call 'diversity of perception and thinking' by people. when i read comments in the timesonline with regard to this teacher's case, i feel sympathy towards people who have been brainwashed by the mainstream media like bbc and the times; islam is all about the negative things. when reading news about islam or muslims, they intentionally(if i am allowed to use this word...) to be biased in their judgment without thinking the matters in clear state of mind.
what makes islam looks ugly right now? there are several factors including the wrongdoings of its followers and not to be forgotten the attacks by people outside Islam circle. let's focus on the followers. the teachings in islam is great but it is the failure of the Muslims to comprehend the quran, sirah, hadith adequately. they took only one or two verses from hadith or quran then claim it justifies their (disgusting) actions without effort to cross- check the verse with other verses in quran and hadith.
it is worthwhile to read out an interview with ikim DG dr syed ali tawfik al-attas at here.
ok, let us look at another example. click here and read the comments, you will know why i like to read comments in blogs etc. it is good for our health; laugh.
p/s: to those who want to read my comments in the times, click here then click on "read all 180 comments" at the bottom of the page. if using firefox, press "crtl' + "F", type "sha"
other religions forgot that they also have been practicing blasphemy law in their respective countries. click here to go to bbc news then type "blasphemy " in the "search" form on top right corner or go to wikipedia(hey, the articles in wikipedia are backed up and supported by legitimate sources in "references" section if you trying to tell me 'cannot use wikipedia ma, anyone can edit')
some of my comments in the news:

naming Muhammad for something that have face or something not suitable such such as casino or pub is forbidden as it show no respect to the Prophet Muhammad
it is however OK to name say building, museum, mosque that will reflect and praise the high quality or value of Muhammad, the prophet itself or the name.
in The Independent, one pupil write down 'my name is Muhammad' when describing the teddy bear in diary. it indirectly says 'this is a face of Muhammad, cartoon or teddy bear face '
in germany and israel, you can be jailed if you deny Holocoust; it is not even a holy-name in Jew religion or Jew's prophet.
we must respect other religion rules and cultures
comment 2
she should be given remainder/warning not lashes nor jail.
in islam, people cannot depicts Muhammad's face by drawing or referring to something which has face etc.
my opinion is she is NOT GUILTY, she even decided to name the teddy bear 'Faris'.the 20 pupils made mistake by voting Muhammad where she have to accept the majority voice.
if she fully aware that naming something that have face with Muhammad is wrong then she can re-advise the pupils to choose another name.this case is quite different with issue of cartoon before this where the cartoonists drew a man referred to Muhammad directly.
parents are advised to put Muhammad in their son's name they hope that the son will behave adequately to reflect the Muhammad's great personality and stop doing something wrong that can ruin the credibility of Muhammad.
Some famous British like Richard Verrall, Doug Collins, Nick Griffin and David Irving have been prosecuted in court as they deny holocaust but there was no great public protest
my point of holocaust is that sometimes we see something is ridiculous in our eyes but it is quite big issue for certain persons/religions.what i mean by respecting other religions is we cannot provoke something that can cause problem although we not agree with it.i cannot deny holocaust, brandish swastika, make joke of Jesus.

A British evangelical organisation, Christian Voice led street protests against the BBC screening of Jerry Springer “ The Opera, in which Jesus wearing a nappy says "I'm a bit gay". Christian Voice published the home addresses and telephone numbers of several BBC executives on their web site. This led to one of these people receiving death threats. Another organisation, the Christian Institute attempted to level blasphemy charges against the BBC
Christian Voice says the show is deliberately offensive and provocative to Christians.
The BBC received more than 60,000 complaints over the broadcast of the hit stage show in January
More than 7,940 people complained to the media regulator Ofcom before it was shown on BBC Two, followed by a further 8,860 afterwards.

she must be released without condition.sudan is so stubborn in this case.
In 2005 Marithand Fran Girbaud's parodied Leonardo's religious painting The Last Supper in a publicity poster. The Catholic church initiated a controversial lawsuit against the Girbauds,...The judge qualified the poster as "an insult to Christians
In 2004, Jesus Dress Up fridge magnets, which depicts a cartoon crucified Jesus in tighty-whities and can be dressed in Satan pajamas, sparked national controversy at an Urban Outfitters receiving more than 250,000 complaints after being featured on MSNBC
In 2002, the author of the Spanish public domain personal computer game Slaughter Cofrade, was formally accused by the Cristo del Gran Poder of violating section 525 of the penal code, which forbids any sort of "attack" on religious dogma, beliefs, or ceremonies. His game depicted the shooting of characters robed in religious clothing and carrying Christian crosses

2002,deliberate,well-publicised public, repeat reading of the poem The Love that Dares to Speak its Name by James Kirkup took place on...St Martin-in-the-Fields church in Trafalgar Square, failed to lead to any prosecution. It suggested Jesus was gay. earlier reading in 1977 had led to prosecution. Outraged Christians tried to drown out the 2002 reading. We won important victory for free speech and the right to protest, declared human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell. No one arrested.police didn't even take our names and addresses. The blasphemy law is now a dead letter. If the authorities are not prepared to enforce the law, they should abolish it.Trial...involved all who read, published the poem, including several of Britain's leading writers, academics,MPs. The blasphemy law gives the Christian religion privileged protection against criticism and dissent. No other institution enjoys...powers to suppress the expression of opinions an and ideas, said Tatchell
my comment in an article titled " Gillian Gibbons and the Sudanese Judiciary". ctrl + F, type 'shair':
she is not guilty and must be released without conditions.she chose faris.20 pupils chose muhammad.she is not fully aware of this 'referring' matter.
islamic law=based on both Sunnah (act of the prophet) and verse of the Quran
christian also have practised law on blasphemy:

LOL....my strategy is to show to them that other religions especially christian also do have blasphemy laws like islam. but when it comes to islam, people get hysterical and blow things out of proportion...sometimes outside the context..in this case s/he written down "Couldn't find any lashings for being raped? No honor killings?Any suicide bombers?Beheadings? You didn't find any Christian stonings?" . hello, i am talking about blasphemy law here.
